L.A. Style - James Brown Is Dead (X Bootleg)
New song, yay! ALMOST completely made by the "X" in "XD," also known as Nav. ("D" made one of the melody patterns)
It's a remix of James Brown Is Dead, a song with which many people here should be familiar with, but I used some samples directly from the original, so it is technically also (a) illegal, and therefore a bootleg, and (b) disallowed to be uploaded on Newgrounds.
Therefore, I'm uploading it to a site that I have a page on, and I'm linking it in a newspost. Also, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS IN YOUR SPONSORED FLASH SUBMISSIONS. You can get SUED if you do, and I am not liable.
Anyway, I just decided to remix James Brown Is Dead one day, since I noticed that few modern remixes of that song existed. I messed around a bit with melodies, chords and such, and eventually I had something workable. A bit more production later and I had a basic mock up.
However, here's where my problems started. I had issues getting the lead to sound right. See, it was playing these great chords that you can hear throughout the breakdown, but when it kicked back it, it never had the power that those chords did. Thankfully, I was able to fix it, but it took a lot of work and a lot of luck too.
Also, it was tough to actually sit down and finish the tune. I was unsure of what to do near the end, so I just put a section in designed for messing with the crossfader. It flips back and forth on the beat, so you can simply fade to the next song and back and it will APPEAR as if this track was continuing normally, while it was actually nearing the end. I don't think this paragraph is coherent, but whatever.
Anyway, enjoy! It's been done for a while, but I've been too lazy to actually link to it.
Also, "D," aka chim, as some stuff in the works. (yup. - "D") I hope it's progressing well, and I think that he might be nearing the completion of his mix of Holy Journey, however it'd be best to ask him rather than take my word for it.
Thanks for reading! If you missed it, the link was near the top :P

Hi, this is Exxdee, also known as XD. We're a collaborative effort, created by Nav and Chim.
You're probably asking yourself a bunch of questions right about now. Hopefully, we can answer them without droning or sounding stupid.
First, why are you doing this?
Good question! The answer is simple: Both people involved want to further their skills within our genre of choice, namely Hardcore. It's also to gain experience collaborating, as well as to support each other where the other lacks.
Why did you pick Hardcore?
Well, Hardcore is a very versatile genre! It has many interesting subgenres, all of which can help us develop valuable skill and experience. Plus, it's our favorite genre at this time! It's energetic, uplifting at times but sad at others. It makes a nice, well rounded genre to work within. However, that's not to say we can't pick any other genres too!
What do you have in store for the future?
Many things... We've already released our first track, Memories, an oldskool-styled track. However, we don't plan to do much more in that style. Most of the stuff we're working on now is very nu-school in sound, and we're working hard to perfect the songs before we go and upload them.
In other words, keep an eye out for us! More interesting content is sure to follow! :)
